The highly rated Celestial Navigation course book,
and companion Celestial Navigation Exercises book,
are excellent instructional tools, ideal for Celestial Navigation Instructors and Schools, as well as for self-study. They have grown out of all the courses given by Dominique Prinet, a certified Instructor-Evaluator for Sail Canada, who taught Celestial and Coastal Navigation from 2000 to 2015.
The 6th Edition Coastal Navigation course book, for class and home study,
as well as its companion book, Coastal Navigation Exercises,
both updated to cover the new Sail Canada Standards, were put together from the notes prepared for private & professional pilots, as well as boaters, and professional mariners.
This website also offers a variety of free helpful resources for both instructors and students, available for download. These include supporting PowerPoint presentations for instructors, for both Celestial and Coastal Navigation classes, as well as work forms for students in Celestial Navigation and a free downloadable version of the Celestial Navigation Exercise book, for which the required data tables are in the course book. There are also free YouTube courses to support the material presented in the books.

A Fabulous Gift

Dominique Prinet is a retired pilot and a fantastic teacher. This book (Coastal Navigation) is a fabulous gift for any sailor who does not wish to be completely reliant on electronics...wish he'd come out of retirement so that I could take his Celestial Navigation class.
Looking Forward to It!

The best Coastal Naviagtion book on the market. We have used the "beta version" for our last courses and both students & instructors enjoy working with this book!

Best of the Breed!

I am a Celestial Navigation instructor in Nova Scotia, teaching the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore theory course. I use this book as a prime reference in all of my Celestial Navigation classroom courses. I find it to be the most thorough and readable manual on this subject that I have seen. Highly recommended.
